The governor of a northwestern Turkish town Wednesday banned the use of mobile telephones in public offices and schools, the Anatolia news agency reported. Ismail Aka, the governor of Inegol in Bursa province, said the use of mobile telephones in public offices often disrupted computer systems, leading to the loss of documents, according to Anatolia.
The devices also had a negative impact on students, who were sending messages to each other during classes instead of concentrating on their lessons, he added. Aka called on parents not to let children take their phones to school and warned that disciplinary procedures will be launched against teachers and students who failed to obey the ban. — (AFP, Ankara)
