Two Memoranda of Understandings (MoU) were signed on Monday by representatives of property development major Nakheel to enhance the safety, security and environmental protection at its Palm Deira site.

The two MoUs were signed with the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) units of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFZ) and Dubai Security Services (DSS), according to Khaleej Times.

Under the first MoU, EHS will assume responsibility for construction safety, health and environmental protection during the construction phase of the project. The second MoU will provide for long-term security cover for Palm Deira.

The agreements were signed by Bin Sulayem and Mahmood Amin, CEO of DSS & Group Security at PCFZ, Operations Director of Palm Deira, Abdullah bin Sulayem, and the COO of EHS, Saed Al Awadi.

"These MoUs are the first steps towards ensuring total safety and security at Palm Deira.  They will grow as our Palm grows," stated Bin Sulayem.

Both EHS and DSS are already involved in similar projects at the first of Nakheel's development projects, Palm Jumeirah.

"The agreement provides a formal framework for collaboration, innovation, demonstration, and preservation of some of Dubai's most valuable environmental assets as well as its workforce," EHS's Al Awadi explained.
