ALBAWABA – With the country’s new direction towards building an Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure, President of UAE Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has recently made an announcement regarding the creation of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, dupped AIATC in Abu Dhabi, to work on establishing and implementing policies that would aim to boost investments and research into AI.
The Council plans to work with local and global partners to will formulate strategies and initiatives for AI research and development, advancing Abu Dhabi’s place in the industry, which alongside Dubai, have been a hub for investors and talents seeking to progress advanced technologies project, AIATC would also work on the development and progression of the post-hydrocarbon economy.
Dubai on the other hand, has seen the establishment of Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) in Jun. 2023 by the Crown Prince of the city, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the goal of helping governmental institutions adopt new AI technologies, it also worked with Digital Dubai alongside different government agencies, to launch Dubai.AI, a platform that bridges developing sectors and Artificial Intelligence to reach their futuristic needs.
Earlier in Nov. 2023, the Khalifa Fund in collaboration with Stallion AI, launched the AI Entrepreneur Programme (AIE), which seeked to equip 75 young entrepreneurs to launch AI-first businesses in the United Arab Emirates over a nine-week period, entrepreneurs would learn how to identify enticing avenues in the emerging AI economy, AIE plans to offer new, streamlined, scientifically-driven methods for building creative startups.
The AIATC, emerging in a time of peak AI hype and race amongst tech companies, with a $10 billion market that is expected to bloom 10 folds by the end of the decade, will be chaired by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, the Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and vice-chaired by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
