Statistics issued by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre show that Dubai had imported 127,914 kilograms of gold in the second quarter of 2006. This figure translates into a 21% withdrawal compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Dubai had exported 75,372 kilograms of gold in the second quarter of 2006. This figure translates into a 32% increase compared with the same period last year.
It should be noted that the per ounce average price of gold in the UAE amounted to $590.4 in the first half of 2006 compared with $445 in the same period last year.
