A UAE-based group of companies is planning to establish an information technology university in the Pakistani capital of Karachi, reported the Pakistan-based Internet news site, Dawn. One of the specialized courses to be offered at the university will be e-commerce.
According to the website, a delegation from the Al-Ammar Group met with Professor Atta-ur-Rahman, Pakistan’s federal minister for science and technology, to inform him of its intentions.
Faisal-Al-Faray, the delegation leader, said that the group represents 25 companies working throughout the Middle East.
The minister expressed his satisfaction that the group had selected Karachi as the site for its university, and stressed that fairness and transparency should be enforced in all contracts concerned with the university’s creation. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
