The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is launching special collectors' edition coins that have been designed to celebrate the hosting of the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. The coins are available to the public from banks across the country.

There are three kinds of coins, gold and silver collectors' pieces and a one Dirham coin. The images on the gold and silver coins are identical, and the logo of Dubai 2003 is prominent on the one Dirham coin.

“Each gold coin will be sold at the gold price on the day of sale plus the additional costs, estimated at 60 Emirati dirhams ($16), while the silver coin will be sold at its face value plus the additional costs, estimated at Dh 60,” said Executive Director of the Banking Operations Department, Central Bank of UAE, Rashid Mohammed Al-Fandi. The commemorative Dirham is legal tender and will be put in circulation as per the usual practice. — (menareport.com)
