Information technology market sources in the UAE estimate the value of this market at $1.2 million annually, reported Al-Ittihad newspaper, describing it as one of the most active markets in the region.
Although the issue of logistic services is less problematic in the UAE compared to the rest of the neighboring states, there is a crucial need for supporting these services in order to stimulate the electronic commerce transactions in the country.
Steve Lockie, the director general of the Tech Data Company, which specializes in IT equipment distribution with an annual turnover of $17 billion, said that the growth rate of the Middle Eastern IT equipment market rises by as high as 30 percent annually, especially in the personal computers sector.
Lockie added that this growth rate is much higher than that of the USA and European markets. He also said that the computer programs and applications sales in the Middle East are presently at peak levels. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
