The United Arab Emirates will spend an initial $408 million on services and development projects in the less-developed members of the federation, WAM has reported.

In "the first phase" of the investment the money will be directed to "health, education, housing, roads, water and other services."

The northern emirates of Ajman, Umm al-Qaiwain and Ras al-Khaimah are less developed than the other four members of the federation - Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah.
