UAE, Morocco push forward free trade zone

Significant progress has reportedly been made towards the establishment of a free trade zone between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, which, if crystallized, will constitute yet another building block in the ultimate goal of an Arab common market.

A meeting of experts from both countries was held this week in Morocco, resulting in a working paper, which was signed by Moroccan and Emirati representatives.

Speaking after the meeting, Mustafa Al-Mansouri, the Moroccan oil minister, confirmed that great progress had been made, and added that points, which will enable liberalized bilateral trade, have been agreed upon.

Lists of products to be exempted from custom taxes have been formulated and these could be implemented at present, the Moroccan minister added. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
