The United Arab Emirates placed 18th in the world according to a recent internet access survey, conducted by the Economist. In the survey, the UAE was ranked ahead of Japan, South Africa, Russia, Ireland, India and others. Norway, Singapore and the United States topped the poll, Gulf News reports.
The survey was based on population ratio. "We are not surprised by our ranking of 18th in the world," a top official in the UAE said, adding "This once more proves our commitment to making sure that the Internet penetrates the whole country in all fields of endeavor."
