UAE, US trade up 37.5%

Bilateral trade between the United Arab Emirates and the United States has surged by 37.5 per cent to $2.2 billion in 2003, said a top business official.

 

“The UAE and the US maintained excellent trade and business relationships during the last three decades.

 

"Our physical non-oil trade has shown an upward trend and surged to [a] new height of $2.2 billion dollars in 2003 against $1.6 billion in 2000 registering an increase of 37.5 per cent in 3 years at an average annual increase of 12.5 per cent," Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, President of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce

and Industry (DCCI) Monday told a visiting US trade delegation from Texas, according to <i>Gulf News</i>.

 

“We are determined to boost this figure to higher levels in the coming few years through the activation of interaction channels and constructive dialogue between our two business communities."
