The United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to lead the Middle East in terms of Visa card usage. Figures for the year ending June 2002 saw the average number of transactions per card increase by 27 percent to 29 times each year – a figure that is closely in line with card usage in Western Europe and America, which currently averages between 30 and 40 times a year.

Visa-branded cards generate more than $2.3 trillion in annual volume and are accepted at more than 29 million physical locations around the world, including more than 800,000 automated teller machines (ATM). The Visa organization plays a pivotal role in developing innovative payment products and technologies to benefit its 21,000 member financial institutions and their cardholders. — (menareport.com)
