Data Systems & Solutions and Comcept Canada have been granted full site acceptance of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implemented at the Borouge chemical plant in Ruweis, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
By receiving site acceptance, the project partners have fully provided Borouge with a new, automated system of applications that provide key decision support for plant operators and managers.
The Borouge polyethylene facility, owned by Abu Dhabi Polymers, creates 450,000 tons a year of the plastic base product. The MES was designed to tie into the facility's business management and distributed control systems, extracting pertinent information through a variety of specific applications, including operation planning and scheduling, regulatory and performance reporting, incident investigation, batch tracking, laboratory systems and cost allocation.
Access to this detailed data gives Borouge operators increased knowledge of the plant status and allows for more efficient plant operations while providing management with key performance information.
Data Systems & Solutions is equally owned by Rolls-Royce and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and began operations in February 1999. The company provides predictive maintenance technologies and integrated asset management solutions to aviation, defense, energy, process industry, and transport.
Data Systems & Solutions employs approximately 650 information technologists, engineers, and other professionals in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
