The ongoing Al-Aksa Intifada in the Palestinian Territories caused severe damages to the Israeli tourism sector. According to Al-Mada magazine, the Israeli National Air-Carrier, El-AL, was obliged to cancel up to 15 percent of the previously reserved seats on the corporation’s airplanes.

The Israeli Hotels Association, which several of its members had to shut down on a temporary basis, assesses at $500-$600 million the Israeli tourism losses during the present winter tourism season. These losses are equivalent to 50 percent of the sector’s total revenues in this period of the year. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
