The value of the inflowing direct American investments into Egypt dropped noticeably during the past three months. Official statistics show that American investments in Egypt fell to $82.2 million, down from $106.2 million during the corresponding period of the previous year, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat . These figures translate into a 22 percent decrease.
Despite this slowdown, the United States remains first in terms of the investor countries in Egypt. Japan, which came in the second position, invested $11 million in Egypt over the previous three months period, compared with $1.6 million during the corresponding period the previous year. — (Mena Report)
