US Robotics announced that its results for the third quarter of 2002 have shown a 102 percent increase over the same period last year in the Gulf markets. The company cited a growth in sales of its analog modems, as well as a surge in demand for networking and wireless connectivity solutions in both the home and small to medium businesses sectors.

The company added that, whereas it is seeing an increase in customer demand for broadband solutions, it still expects analog products to account for most of its revenue for the region in the coming period.

US Robotics' director of sales and operations for Europe the Middle East and Africa, Peter Blampied, said that the company's presence in the region through its Dubai headquarters has played an important role in this growth, “the Internet uptake in the Middle East is still quite active, and our experience in this market has proved to us that users here, although price conscious, also seek quality solutions, and they tend to trust the brands that they recognize over cheap generics. Our long history in the region, combined with the strength of our partnerships has also played a key role in this success”

US Robotics is a modem provider, bringing the Internet into millions of homes and businesses around the world. For three decades, US Robotics has been at the forefront of modem technology, and in the 1990's was the first to boost analog modem speeds to the V.90 56K standard. — (menareport.com)
