Creating opportunities for Jordanians is the main mandate for the USAID-funded Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality Program (SABEQ). This mandate was put into action yesterday afternoon when the Chief of Party of the SABEQ Program, Rodrigo Ortiz and the CEOs of the four companies singed into an agreement which utilizes their expertise in the Jordanian ICT sector for the coming four years. The four companies were selected after an open request for proposal was issued in April 2007.
The selected companies will provide their consultancy services in support of the program objectives in a variety of ICT-related management consulting activities, including, but not limited to: strategy development and planning, gathering business, functional, or technical requirements for a technology solution to improve efficiency, transparency, or effectiveness of a business process; monitoring IT programs or technical processes to evaluate performance; project management; support qualitative or quantitative evaluations of the supply or demand for an IT product or service; business process management (including Business Process Modeling)/Business Process Re-Engineering inputs and outputs, and roles and responsibilities. The companies selected to support the USAID-funded SABEQ Program in its initiatives are: Optimiza, TAGI , Y Consultant, and Eco Consult.
Speaking at the event, SABEQ Program Chief of Party Rodrigo Ortiz noted the importance of such partnerships within the local companies, “The ICT/IT sector in Jordan is one of the most promising sectors that can really enhance the country’s productivity, and we have here an opportunity to tap into the talents and expertise of Jordanian firms to reach this goal.”
The ICT sector is one of several sectors USAID/SABEQ is focusing its efforts on to improve productivity and enhance its performance and be a leading sector in the growth of the Jordanian economy. The other sectors the program is focusing on include: medical services, pharmaceuticals, high value fruits and vegetables, architecture and engineering, packaging, financial services, local economic development, apparel and light manufacturing, off-shoring services. The program is also involved in the crucial topics of water, energy and environment conservation.
The USAID-funded Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality Program (SABEQ) is a five year broad economic development initiative implemented by BearingPoint, Inc. and a sizeable team of international and Jordanian partner firms. By both supporting improvements in the business environment and providing assistance to expand innovation and productivity in Jordanian businesses, to support the main objective of building up the private sector as a powerful engine of economic growth.
