The Moroccan phosphates and fertilizes firms are leading the sector market in Africa, indicated the Paris-based Jeune Afrique/L'intelligent" (JAI)  weekly in a special edition dedicated to the 500 leading companies in the continent.

With an annual progression of 13%, “Maroc phosphore”, a branch of state-owned phosphates group “OCP”, is still holding the 3rd rank among Africa’s top 25 African companies operating in chemical industry, according to the magazine.  JAI noted that the company is drawing profit from the considerable growth in orders from Latin American and Asian markets.

Morocco, which maintains significant phosphates reserves, has also developed its fertilizers production industries, added the weekly. Five other Moroccan companies operating in the sector are also included in the continent’s 500 largest companies.
