ALBAWABA - Human Mobile Devices (HMD Global), a Finnish manufacturer of Nokia phones, announced collaborating with Mattel, an American multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment company, to launch its new Barbie phone. This innovative device will feature a small, pink, and foldable phone with a classic design and some smartphone features.
New Barbie pink phone
HMD Global said the new Barbie pink phone will be available in the markets as of today for $131.24 (£99). Users of the device will be able to make phone calls and send text messages, but will not have access to social media platforms and applications.
The retro design of the device will also feature a pink keypad that includes hidden designs of palm trees, hearts, and flamingos that illuminate in the dark, according to the company.

HMD Global said the new Barbie pink phone will be available in the markets as of today for $131.24 (£99).
It is worth noting that the release of the new phone coincides with Barbie’s 65th birthday and follows the massive success of last year’s Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie. The movie generated nearly $1.4 billion at box offices worldwide.
HMD accomplishments
HMD is expected to sell more than 400,000 Barbie phones in the UK, through Vodafone and Argos companies, according to CCS Insight, a British market researcher company.
Ben Wood, Chief Analyst at CCS Insight commented: “I’d imagine quite a few people will be tempted to buy it as a bit of fun, but in reality, everyone is so dependent on their smartphones that anything more than the odd day of detox will be a stretch.”
It is significant to highlight that Human Mobile Devices (HMD Global) previously launched several phones with smart features like the re-release of Nokia 3210 and 3310, supported by Google.
