Yemen’s 2002 budget will result in a $253 million deficit

The Yemeni government recently presented the 2002 general budget draft to the parliament. The budget anticipates 482 billion Yemeni Rials ($2.86 billion) in revenues, a YR 5.82 billion fall compared with the 2001 budget, reported Al-Hayat. It also allocated YR 531.8 billion to expenditures, a YR 29.9 billion increase compared with the 2001 budget. As a result, the 2002 budget proposal will experience a YR 43 billion ($253 million) deficit, which is equivalent to 2.7 percent of the GDP. — (menareport.com)
