Yemen recorded a trade surplus of 153.1 billion Yemeni rials ($867 million) in 2001. The nation’s exports reached YR 522 billion ($2.98 billion) last year and imports stood at YR 416 billion. Oil shipments constituted 94 percent of Yemen’s total exports, reported ONA.
The country registered a trade surplus of $1.75 billion in 2000. Exports totaled $4.07 billion while imports amounted to $2.32 billion. The nation’s exports to Arab countries rose from $78.9 million in 1999 to $210 million in 2000. — (menareport.com)
