The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jizan, southern Saudi Arabia, recommended the importing of seasonal labor force from Yemen through the conventional legal and official channels.
According to Al-Hayat newspaper, during the recently held Agricultural Investment Conference in Jizan, paperwork revealed that the Saudi farmers used to depend on Yemeni workers before depending on local labor.
However, the Yemeni workers, who’s labor costs less than Asian and other Arab laborers, left Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Their departure had a negative impact on the Saudi agricultural sector.
Thus, the chamber recommended recalling the Yemeni workers, whose customs are similar to the Saudi customs and come from an area geographically close to Saudi Arabia. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
