The Yemen Airlines Corporation, Yemenia, received its second Boeing 737-800 aircraft shipment of the year. The airline received its first airliner out of a three aircraft deal this past May and the third is expected to arrive in September, reported Saba.
Yemenia allocated $500 million for the purchase of nine new aircraft in 2001 in order to modernize its fleet. According to the Chairman of Yemen Airways, Captain Abdul Khalek Al-Kadi, the upgrading will also include Airbus airplanes. The company’s fleet will consist of five airbus planes and three Boeing aircraft by the end of 2002. — (menareport.com)
