Capital Club to host pioneering Emirati filmmaker

As part of its exciting line-up of events for June, Capital Club, the region's premier private business club and a member of the ENSHAA group of companies, will be hosting pioneering Emirati filmmaker Ali F. Mostafa, director of the widely acclaimed City of Life.

Taking place at The Signature on 21 June, the event will see Mostafa – who has worked on short films and TV commercials professionally for over 7 years through his production company AFM Films – talk about the rise of the UAE’s film industry, the challenges facing young Emirati filmmakers, and the importance of following your dreams during a candid interview with fellow Emirati and friend, Mishaal Al Gergawi.

Mostafa fulfilled his ambition to make films in 2003 when he enrolled at the London Film School to obtain an M.A. of practical training in film. His short graduation film 'Under the Sun' was officially selected and nominated for ‘Best Foreign Film’ at various international festivals and won 'Best Emirates Film 2006' in the Annual Emirates Film Competition in Abu Dhabi.

His work gained him recognition as 'Best Emirati Filmmaker' by the Dubai International Film Festival in 2007, and in 2010 Digital Studio magazine named him ‘Young Filmmaker of the Year’ for his debut feature film, City of Life.
