Central Trade and Auto Company (CTA), the exclusive dealers for Toyota, Lexus and Hino vehicles in the Kingdom, recently participated as Silver Sponsor in the second Million Tree Program launched by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN). The company’s participation was made official in a fundraising dinner held at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, where CTA announced its adoption of an initiative to plant 500 trees varying from olive, palm, and fruit trees in various locations in Palestine.

This step comes to build on the success of APN’s One Million Trees program, which launched in 2003 under the slogan “They cut down a tree, we plant 10 instead,” sowing the seeds of around one million trees in Palestine by the end of April 2008. Commenting on CTA’s participation, the company’s Marketing Manager Nadim Haddad said: “Through our participation, we aim to support the Palestinian farmer and aid him in sustaining and cultivating his land. Our participation is also a translation of our unwavering commitment to environmental welfare, which should be on top of any organization’s CSR agenda given the urgency of the global environmental crisis.”

“Toyota’s commitment to environmental preservation is not limited to the production of fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles, but also extends to include the company’s ongoing efforts in supporting various preservation projects and activities, particularly those geared toward safeguarding the natural resources in our region.”

The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN) was established as a member-based, non-profit organization in April, 2003 by a group of motivated individuals concerned with the protection of the environment and the natural resources in Arab countries against all hazards, including the destructive impacts of wars and foreign occupations. The organization’s aim is to reinforce the capacity of Arab communities to sustain their natural resources by organizing regular campaigns and initiatives geared toward raising awareness and encouraging positive legislation.
