Masdar Institute (MI), the world’s first graduate-level university dedicated to providing real-world solutions to issues of sustainability, today received a 13-member delegation from the Korea-based Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), an organization that aims to systematize theories and disseminate models on ‘green growth’ around the world.

Dr. Steve Griffiths, Director of the Office of Institute Initiatives, and Dr. Scott Kennedy, Associate Dean for Research at Masdar Institute, welcomed the delegation that comprised eight senior officials from GGGI and its members Korea Environment Institute (KEI) and the Korea Legislative Research Institute (KLRI).

GGGI’s visit, which aimed to explore collaboration opportunities with Masdar Institute, featured a campus tour and a review of the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the wind tower, the MI knowledge center and the 10MW photo-voltaic plant. The visitors were also offered a view of the material recycle center, in addition to the labs and classrooms. A brief overview of the MI campus station and the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) was provided to the delegates during their ride on the transportation system.

Dr. Steve Griffiths said: “It was a privilege to receive delegates from GGGI. Their visit to our campus underscores the strides environmental management has taken in the region and the role that Masdar Institute has played in putting the UAE on the global map. We look forward to collaborating with GGGI and its members.”

GGGI officials including Dr. Jung Tae Yong, Deputy Executive Director, Dr. Park Chanho, Head of Legal Counsel, and Kim Jin Young, Program Manager, as well as KLRI representatives Dr. Kim Ki-pyo, President, and researchers Dr. Lee Jun-seo and Dr. Kim Hyun Gun were the other members of the delegation.
