The Department of Municipal Affairs organized a workshop about Integrated Management System and Six Sigma
As part of series of workshops aimed to shed a light on the main projects and initiatives in different sectors and divisions in the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), the Strategic Planning & Performance Management Office organized a workshop discussed the Integrated Management System & Six Sigma project undertaken by the Business Support Division in the Municipal Affairs Support Sector at the DMA.
The workshop explained that this project comes in line with the general policies of the Abu Dhabi Government, and to participate in achieving sustainability in the form of cutting costs while expanding and assuring quality and achieving the environmental requirements, targets and goals and legislative & statutory requirements in addition to better services and enhancing corporate social responsibility.
Mr. Mohamed Al Marzouqi coordinator – project management at the Business Support Division said that the Integrated Management System (IMS) consists of Quality Management System, Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety and aims to embed the quality, environmental, health, safety and information security systems to comply with the International Standards ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 and 27001 certified by DNV to support the continual improvement and enhance operational efficiency in the municipal system.
Mr. Abdellatif Hegazy, Consultant - Corporate Excellence at the DMA said that the Integrated Management System and six Sigma creates opportunities to innovate and continually improve the operations in different sector and to support the government excellence drive and transformational programs and to Achieve knowledge-based organization and learning and quality assurance for the municipal services in addition to developing leadership capabilities to endorse excellence.
This project will also help in achieving a framework of Sustainability for the Municipal System’s performance in each of the following aspects: Economic, Environmental, Social & Governance and consists of 3 key components, integrated management system, business excellence, and sustainability Policy, and will put the Municipal System on The Journey towards Excellence & Sustainability and enable it to offer world class municipal services.
This project is accompanied with the deployment of Six Sigma that will improve the quality of process outputs, leading to the continual improvement drive of the Municipal system. It is worth mentioning that 6 Sigma is a quality measure and improvement program was first developed and used by Motorola that focuses on the control of a process to the point of 3.4 defects per million opportunities and now it is used among companies in different sectors worldwide.
