DMA starts the Environment, Health and Safety awareness program

The Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) started an awareness program to highlight Abu Dhabi Emirate’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System. Within this context, the Municipal Affairs Governance Sector in DMA organized (9) workshop over three days and was attended by all the of the DMA employees from different sectors and departments.

The workshops covered several important issues with a focus on the EHS policy in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The workshop also included a review of partnerships between the government and the private sectors to ensure the proper safe and responsible implementation of the system. Furthermore, the workshop emphasised encouraging nationals to adopt EHS international standards and best practices to educate other members of the society and encourage them to preserve the environment.

During the workshops, the DMA sectors and divisions have been urged to align their plans and activities with the EHS policy to be committed to the guiding principles of this policy.

On this occasion, HE Mohammed Sughayer AL Dhaheri, Executuve Director of the Support Services Sector in the DMA, explained that the commitment to hold such workshops comes from the basis of the strategic plan of DMA as these workshops are really important in developing the human resources, and continuing to hold them will help the employees to identify the surrounding hazards at the workplace and the possible ways to control or prevent them.
