Dubai Customs Leadership Assessment grows

Dubai Customs has conducted a workshop in the attendance of Senior Management Leaders led by HE Ahmed Butti Ahmed, the Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone – Director General of Dubai Customs, to announce the emotional intelligence assessment results that comes as part of 360 degree Leadership Development Program.
Mr. Martin Newman the Chief Executive officer of Roch Martin Company, a specialized firm in leadership assessment and emotional intelligence measurement affirmed while announcing the assessment results at the workshop that: “indicators show a progress in respect to the first and second assessments conducted in June and December 2009 by 27 persons of the organizational leadership”.
Indicators included 10 key elements as represented by self-awareness, self-confidence, self-reliance, achievement orientation, self-assertion (determination), social relation skills, empathy, self-control, flexibility and optimism recording an improvement positively reflected on job satisfaction level for leadership category, which increased by 13% in 2009”, he added.
Mr. Fahd Al Muhairi, Executive Director HR, Finance and Administrative Division said that the improvement made in the assessment results being presented at workshop in the attendance of 20 organizational leaders was due to efforts in approximating views and opinions among leaders and their subordinates, colleagues and supervisors.
The participants have been engaged in business program included training on emotional intelligence concept, the required strategies and feedback individual knowledge sessions for producing implementation plans upon the report and reporting results”, she maintained.
The program aims at minimizing the gap, if any, between personal and others` opinions on leaders subject to the conduct of a third assessment covering 2010.
Two other groups from Dubai Customs departments and sections Directors and Managers are expected to be included in the program, increasing the number to 165 persons which set to be completed as whole by 2012.
