Dubai Customs participates in Careers UAE 2011

Inline with its strategy towards attracting the qualified UAE nationals at the different business domains and fulfilling the Emiratization government programs, Dubai Customs takes part in Careers UAE 2011 which will be held today at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. 

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Dubai Customs Director General said that this event comes at the top of our calendar for our different participations during  the year “This is the best platform to meet the UAE citizens who look forward to kicking off and developing their career life by giving them the chance to meet the Department’s HR officials and employers and discuss the open vacancies we have in addition to holding open discussions with them to enable them to look into the options of professional development” he said. 

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed stressed that Dubai Customs is keen on attracting the largest number of the local cadres to work at the different business domains at the Department inline with the government vision towards providing support to the UAE nationals and the perfect business opportunities. 

He added that the objectives of the HR Department at Dubai Customs for 2011 includes several aspects especially building, developing and maintaining the UAE HR competencies and skills besides strengthening and advancing leadership skills and capabilities through offering numerous training programs. 

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed stated that the Emiratization percentage reached 82% by the end of 2010 with 100 per cent rate among leadership positions as well as the customs inspection cadre who are considered the most vital occupational category at the Department for the significant role they play in protecting the UAE from the smuggling attempts of the illegal and prohibited goods locally and internationally. 

The Dubai Customs brochure is available for the visitors of the function who wish to learn about the Department’s employment domains, conditions and advantages where much attention is given to the fresh graduates and high school holders who can work with the customs inspection cadre. 

H.E. Ahmed Butti Ahmed further noted:" The Department is currently seeking to increase the Emiratization percentage through this annual event along with other functions held and sponsored in cooperation with the Higher College of Technology and universities in the UAE which target the UAE nationals. It is also a great opportunity to meet UAE nationals who look for job opportunities and receive and consider their CVs on spot, not to mention the continuous cooperation with the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority- Tanmia in this regard.”

Besides introducing the different job categories available at the Department, Customs uses the exhibition to introduce its visitors to the available training programs employees can enroll in throughout the year such as the orientation programs for the newly hired, general and specialized courses which take place inside and outside the Department in order to develop and sharpen their professional skills.

Dubai Customs also offers educational scholarships in some degrees and other incentives through which it seeks to attract the well-qualified and competent UAE nationals.
