Dubai Customs signs MoU with Abu Dhabi Customs Department of Finance for consolidating partnership and furthering cooperation

Dubai Customs and Department of Finance / Abu Dhabi Customs Administration signed a memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday 11 January 201. The memorandum aims at enhancing partnership between the two sides within a corporate system that serves all segments of society and fosters the UAE’s economic and social development. 

The Memorandum was signed by the Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of the Ports, Maritime and Free Zone Authority, Ahmed Butti Ahmed, and H.E. Saeed Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs. 

The memorandum of understanding is highly important due to the comparative significant weight of external trade represented by Abu Dhabi and Dubai. 

HE Hamad Hur Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi's Finance Department stressed the importance of such agreements in developing and co-coordinating common work between Customs departments in the UAE in order to materialize expectations. 

The Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of the Ports, Maritime and Free Zone Authority, Ahmed Butti Ahmed said that signing the memorandum goes in line with the strategic goals that Dubai Customs seeks to realize through exchange of best practices in corporate procedures, and contributing to the process of economic development “ the signed memorandum covers a number of scopes that include the protection of economy, security protection, building up of potentials, training, and unified standards” HE added. 

HE stressed the fact that Dubai Customs always seeks to enhance means of co-operation with other local customs federal government departments to meet the targeted expectations and cement sustainable development. 

H.E. Saeed Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs said that signing the agreement aims at improving common work in order to facilitate operations and procedures and provide an added value to help realizing targets and objectives. HE add that this agreement will help protect society from different perils and threats, uplift revenues significantly, facilitate trade through the reduction of security risks that may result from international trade and travel, facilitate legal flow of persons and shipments, and activate common work between the two sides which is expected to advance the UAE society and beef up the economic and social process.  HE also stressed the importance of delivery of high quality sustainable and regular services that are governed within frames of transparency, integrity and accountability.
