Dubai Healthcare City to launch second edition of mobile clinic initiative for workers

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of TECOM Investments' Science Cluster, announced it is partnering with Amgen Middle East (AMGN), a Business Partner of DuBiotech and the world's largest biotechnology company, to launch the second edition of its mobile clinic initiative in Dubai.
For the second year in a row, a team of experts from various DHCC-based clinics will conduct health camps offering free general check-ups, eye tests and dental screenings to construction workers at Dubai Industrial City, a member of TECOM Investments' Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster, as well as Nuzul, a Dubai Properties Group accommodation for skilled labour, and Dubai Healthcare City.
To be held over a two-week period in November, the campaign aims to increase health awareness among the female and male workforce in Dubai.
Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Managing Director of TECOM Investments' Science Cluster, said: "So many of the health issues in this region are preventable through minor lifestyle changes, better public engagement on health prevention and early detection. Dubai Healthcare City has a number of leading healthcare providers who are open to sharing their best-practice diagnostic and medical services to improve the health of the community.
"We are delighted to be partnering with our clinics and Amgen to deliver the mobile clinic to those who can most benefit in Dubai. I do hope we can deliver free health checks at a greater frequency in the future."
Ashraf Allam, Regional Managing Director of Amgen, said: "We are very proud to sponsor the mobile clinic initiative that will touch the lives of so many employees and contribute to enhancing their quality of life. Our association with Dubai Healthcare City comes from our shared vision on safeguarding employee rights."
Abdullah Belhoul, Managing Director, Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster, TECOM Investments, said: "I am delighted over Dubai Healthcare City's step to provide a mobile clinic at Dubai Industrial City. The initiative will ensure the wellbeing of the workers through offering a number of important health checks. We look forward to further initiatives of a similar nature on a regular basis."
The first edition of the mobile clinic initiative in 2009 offered general health checks, consultations, as well as eye and dental screenings to over 1200 workers.
The main sponsor of the mobile clinic is Amgen Middle East (AMGN) and Vitabiotics. The clinics and healthcare groups volunteering to support the initiative include, Boston University Dental Health Center – Dubai, Sharif Eye Centres, Sagar Healthcare and Diagnostics, The E.N.T. Clinic, Dr. Marc Mueller, Magrabi Eye Hospital, and Dr. Moopen's Healthcare. The Kerala Youth Cultural Club, a voluntary socio-cultural organization in the UAE will provide support to the mobile clinic through a number of volunteers who will handle the logistics of delivering mobile care and facilitate the health checks at each site.
As part of its mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals, Dubai Healthcare City has been running a series of community engagement initiatives, including breast cancer awareness, anti-smoking campaigns and blood drives. It has received several awards for its CSR activities.
