More than 300 students were recently awarded at the 2nd Student Award Ceremony at Dubai Women’s College (DWC). The event was held with the aim of recognizing students who had won awards throughout the year in the presence of guest of honor Mr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, Manager of Red Crescent – Dubai Branch and other UAE dignitaries, college’s director, teaching staff and students’ families.

“At DWC, we believe in educating the whole person, and we offer programs and services to help our students develop to their fullest potential” said Dr. Amna Al Mazam, DWC Student Affairs Supervisor.  “The Student Award Ceremony is a celebration of students who are excelling not only in their studies, but through the many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities offered. We want to focus on highlighting student success even more and to have a ceremony at a time when families and employers could join us for this celebration” she added.

Arwa Harqoos, who received an appreciation award for her participation in Student Parliament, was pleased with the idea of the ceremony. She said “It is really important to recognize what students have achieved.  It encourages students to do more in their studies and to look for ways to get involved in the following year.”  DWC student Shaikha Salem also appreciated the fact that families were also invited.  “Students like to show their families what they have achieved in college, not just to see their grades” she added.

Students received awards for activities such as DWC Annual Speech Competition, Entrepreneurial Planning and Innovation Competition, and other extra-currlicular activities and CSR initiatives.
