DWC students to present advanced workshop during Emirates Critical Care Conference

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) Medical Imaging and Paramedic students will present a one-day advanced workshop tomorrow Thursday April 21, 2011 at the 7th Emirates Critical Care Conference, at the Event Center, InterContinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City.  

The “Aeromedical Transport of the Critically Patient” workshop is part of the 3-day conference highlighting the need for enhanced critical care medicine in the region.

Ron Blough, coordinator of DWC paramedic program, stated that the workshop will review aeromedical transport, advanced medical images, cardiac rhythms, as well as advanced airway control techniques. “We challenge our students to not just understand advanced medical information, but to be able to teach it to others,” he added.

Dubai Women’s College (DWC) is known for delivering educational best practice in health sciences.  The paramedic program has been a successful partnership between the Higher Colleges of Technology and The Government of Dubai since 2003. 

This partnership includes an international partner, Harrisburg Area Community College, USA, where the students receive their qualifications and international work experience.

The graduates from this program are employed by the Dubai Police and the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS). The 4-year BSc Medical Imaging program is accredited by the UK Society and College of Radiographers and enjoys a 90% employment rates throughout the emirates. Running for the last sixteen years, this robust educational program places strong emphasis on linking theory with practice which has given graduates the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress into senior management and specialist imaging positions.
