With all the stress that comes with living in Cairo, there is finally a mental breakout – the Scream Room. It’s a room located in a bookshop/cafe, Bab Aldonia, in 6th of October city, that comes with soundproof walls and a drum set to help you get rid of all the negative energy inside you.
When you head there, you’ll leave your phone and name in a log book. The person in charge will tell you you’ve got ten minutes to unleash the monster within and leave it inside, to begin fresh and new. Best of all, there's no extra charge.
The project began three years ago. It was originally meant to be a culture hub with a corner designed for reading and at the same time a place for underground music events and workshops for learning how to play music instruments, Bab Aldonia’s founder, Abdel-Rahman Saad, told the Huffington Post.
Scream Rooms are already a popular concept in the US, and here's hoping the idea continues to spread to other Middle Eastern cities.
