Dubai police will have a second luxury car at their disposal. After buying a Lamborghini last week, officials said a Ferrari will go on patrol this week.

Lt. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai's police chief, said the luxury sports cars are meant to reflect the city's affluent reputation.

Despite the zero-to-60 capabilities, though, officers will not be engaging in any high-speed chases.

"These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists," he said. "They will be used for roads security in different areas of Dubai."

CNN reported last week that 15 percent of traffic fines issued in Dubai are to speeders doing in excess of 130 mph. The Lamborghini was reported to top out at 217 mph. The Ferrari's top-end speed wasn't reported.

The Lamborghini cost the department $500,000. The Ferrari was more than $500,000, bringing the department's tab for its two new patrol cars over $1 million, Gulf News reported Monday.
