Dubai: Worker Sentenced 3-Years in Jail for Raping Drunk Co-Worker

A construction worker has been jailed for three years for forcing his co-worker to undress and have sex with him in his room when they were both drunk.

The incident happened in a labour accommodation in Jebel Ali Industrial Area in November 2017.

The 24-year-old victim was drunk when he was walking back to his room and the 29-year-old accused offered to walk him home.

The culprit, instead, took the victim to his own room where he forced him to take off his clothes and had sex with him.

The man, who pretended that he wanted to go to the washroom in a bid to run away, got a further shock when he opened the door of the room to find three men outside.

He managed to get away and rushed to the nearest police station where he complained that he had been sodomised.

The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the man defendant of sodomising the victim and jailed him for three years.

The accused pleaded not guilty and contended that he had consensual sex with the victim.

According to the primary judgement, the accused will be deported.

The two men were tried before the Misdemeanours Court for having alcohol.

The victim said he had been drinking on a Friday evening and was heading back to his room when the accused accosted him in the street.

“He grabbed me by my shoulder and offered to walk me to my residence because I was very drunk. He took me to the second floor of a labour accommodation where he locked us inside the room. I refused to take off my clothes when he asked me to do so. Then he forced me to undress and raped me … when I went towards the door and opened it, there were three men outside. I told the suspect that I had to go to the washroom to clean up and then reported the matter to the police,” he testified.

The defendant has appealed his primary judgement.
