Earth Hour started in 2007 as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia to raise awareness about climate change. The event has grown to engage more than 162 countries and territories worldwide with hundreds of millions of people switching off their lights for one hour to show they care about our planet. The switch offs start in Samoa and finish in Tahiti.
Earth Hour 2015 is on Saturday, March 28 between 8:30 and 9:30 pm. At that time, join the lights out display across Saudi Arabia. What you do during the hour is up to you, but avoid using electricity. You could have a candlelight dinner with your family. Go out to the desert and look at the stars. Or just spend an hour contemplating the future of our world if we don’t all work together to fight global warming.
Many organizations around the world are participating in Earth Hour to raise awareness of our use of energy and its impact on our world. For instance, it’s lights out for the Piggies for Earth Hour. To help raise awareness and encourage work to fight global warming, Rovio has joined in the Earth Hour event with a themed week-long Angry Birds Friends tournament. Join the Angry Birds in their struggle against the energy-wasting Piggies! Play through https://apps.facebook.com/angrybirdsor download the app for iOS or Android. Additionally, and to lead by example, Angry Birds Friends will be shut down for one hour on March 28th starting at 08:30pm EET.
Earth Hour is a movement that has achieved massive environmental impact, including legislation changes, by harnessing the power of the crowd. It’s something so simple, but with a big message. Join in through www.earthhour.org or www.facebook.com/earthhour. Learn how to use your power.
