Porchetta had found the wallet belonging to a tourist containing cash, identification cards and bank cards in a taxi.
The Abu Dhabi Police honoured an Italian student for his honesty after he handed over a wallet he found in a taxi to the police. The teenager received a certificate of appreciation and a token gift.
Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammed Borshid, Head of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police, honoured 16-year-old Andrea Malak Porchetta on Sunday.
Porchetta, a grade 10 student at Lycée Louis Massignon French School in Abu Dhabi, had found the wallet belonging to a tourist containing cash, identification cards and bank cards in a taxi. Porchetta immediately handed over the wallet to the police, prompting words of appreciation.
Colonel Borshid said: “The Abu Dhabi Police honour individuals in recognition of their honesty and positive attitudes ... to strengthen the spirit of community. We are committed to honour individuals who help the police carry out their task in a manner that enhances social partnership.”
The student expressed happiness for being honoured and for the hospitality and reception accorded to him by the Abu Dhabi Police. “This recognition encourages me to do good deeds that serve the community and contribute to the work of the police institution. I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for this kind gesture that reflects the refined image of the Abu Dhabi Police,” he said.
