A father in Mumbai chocked his son to death in a fight over having to eat okra for lunch.
The father got furious as his daughter-in-law had cooked okra for lunch on Sunday while he wanted to eat elephant yams.
When the man started beating his daughter-in-law, the son intervened.
Shantaram lived with his son Krushna and his newly-wedded wife Rekha, and two younger sons. He, however, did not like Rekha's cooking and there were frequent quarrels in the house over the issue.
"On Sunday, the accused started hitting his daughter-in-law for cooking okra instead of yams. Krushna jumped in to save his wife and pushed his father aside. When he was consoling her, his father held him, pushed him against the wall and choked him," Ulhasnagar police told crime-
Police added that Rekha rushed to call the neighbours for help. But by the time she returned with some neighbours, the man had killed Krushna. They took him to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The accused father has been arrested for the murder of his son.
