Indian Writer and Artist Dies in Live TV Show in Kashmir

It is the first such incident reported for the state so far.

A noted writer and artist in Jammu and Kashmir died of cardiac arrest during a live interactive morning show.

81-year-old Rita Jitendra was speaking during 'Good Morning J&K' show when she suddenly had a heart attack.

The viral video of the programme shows Rita suddenly stops talking and struggles to breathe.

"She was telling us a few interesting things about her life and was looking absolutely normal," the anchor of the show, Zahid Mukhtar told The Telegraph.

"But suddenly she stopped talking and began having hiccups. We had to cut the interview (and switch to) a documentary to attend to her and take her to hospital."

Mukhtar added: "She had a great association with television and her last words were on how she had started doing the dramas."

According to the IBT times, Rita was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead. Rita was known figure in the state and also served as Secretary of J&K Cultural Academy.

It is the first such incident reported for the state so far.
