A Palestinian woman is married to a man who is serving more than 10 years in Israeli prisons. But that didn't stop her from having his child.

According to Ma'an News Agency, Rula became one of the many cases of smuggling sperm out of jail to conceive. She gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, while her husband remains in jail, Ma'an News Agency reported.

The father, Fadi Matar, is a Palestinian security officer serving time in the West Bank. Rula smuggled his sperm out of prison, then had a doctor inseminate her in Nablus' Razan Medical Center through in vitro fertilization.

Salim Abu al-Khayzaran, director of the center, told Ma'an the center doesn't charge families of prisoners for fertilization or for delivery.

Many women in similar situations have been smuggling sperm out of Israeli jails to have kids, Vice reported in October. Void of physical contact and running out of time, smuggling sperm is often the best option for Palestinian families.

“My two other children wanted a little brother or sister, and by the time my husband gets out of jail I will be 47 and too old to bear children,” Samahar Masalmeh told Vice.

"I encourage every prisoner's wife to do the same," another Palestinian woman Roula Abd al-Ghani told Ahrar in September. "Israel cannot break our will and power."
