An Israeli and lawmaker just set up the most bizarre Facebook campaign, encouraging people to post pictures of their children and pets holding signs demanding the execution of “terrorists”.

Former journalist Sharon Gal called on fellow Israelis to support the death penalty for convicted murderers motivated by “nationalism”, naturally supported by fellow right-winger, Avigdor Lieberman, who once called for the beheading of Palestinians that were “disloyal to Israel”, according to Electronic Intifada.

In a lead up to the country’s vote for the death penalty last week, Gal started the Facebook campaign, encouraging followers to hold signs reading: “I too am in favor of the death penalty for terrorists.”

Not to beat around the bush or anything, but, does “terrorist” by chance mean Palestinians?

From two young Israeli girls smiling and holding up the sign, to fluffy dogs and cats, this odd campaign sort of highlights the tension towards Palestinians being normalised through selfie culture.

Some people just have too much time on their hands!
