Eight people, including four expats, were arrested on charges of possessing and peddling drugs in the Sultanate, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
In the first case, three people were arrested for possessing and trading psychotropic substances.
A source at ROP said, “The suspects were seized with 14 kg of morphine. The defendants were dealing with an international gang.”
In a similar case, an expat of “Asian nationality” was arrested after he was caught on charges of drug peddling and abuse in the Wilayat of Seeb. Officials said that a total of five kg of marijuana and morphine were confiscated from the accused.
In the third case, an Omani was arrested and 3,000 packs of khat were seized from the citizen in the Governorate of Dhofar.
Meanwhile, two “Asian nationals” were arrested for trying to smuggle Marijuana into the country via Muscat International Airport. While another expat of “Asian nationality” was arrested for drug peddling in the wilayat of Shinas.
All the accused have been referred to judicial authorities for further investigation and trial.
