The three month old Prince George, son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, was christened in London on Wednesday with water from the Jordan River.

Queen Elizabeth II seemed happy to be out of the royal spotlight as baby George took centre stage in the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace as he was christened surrounded by his royal relatives and posh pals.

Prince George, who was born in July to much excitement and fanfare the world over, was christened using holy water from the Jordan River by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, according to palace officials. Not a bad accolade for a three-month old!

The Jordan River is considered the third holiest site in Christianity, after Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

Aside from the tradition of using water from the Jordan River for the christening, perhaps there's a bit of extra symbolism there considering George's Mum -- the lovely Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton -- spent several years of her childhood romping around the Hashemite Kingdom.

The Duchess' family moved to Jordan in 1984, when she was two and her sister Pippa (famous for her silk-clad derriere at the Royal Wedding) was eight months old. Kate's father Michael was a manager for British Airways at the time, and jumped at an opportunity to work for the company in the Jordanian capital, according to UK newspaper The Telegraph.

According to her official biography, released by the palace shortly after news of her engagement to Will broke, it was revealed that Kate went to an English language nursery school in Amman from the age of three.

Congratulations on your christening George! Will we be seeing you in Jordan anytime soon, as per family tradition?
