A private tutor, 66, who allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl while alone with her at her parents' house, stood trial in a Dubai court.
The Court of First Instance was told the Sudanese man groped the Emirati girl and touched her inappropriately as he was alone with her and her two siblings.
The investigating prosecutor urged the court to punish him "severely" according to the law.
Court documents showed the tutor was exposed after the girl's grandmother tried to understand the reason why he was dedicating time to teach the victim more than her brother and sister. The girl told the prosecutor the tutor molested her several times in the last four teaching sessions he had with her.
She said that he would usually meet her around 9:00pm in the living room and touch her inappropriately. He would remove his hands off her body as soon as someone would enter the room. He even asked her whether there were cameras in their house.
The girl's 54-year-old father said his wife asked him to check the surveillance cameras. In the clips, the man could be seen touching the girl inappropriately, said the father.
The girl's 42-year-old mother said she went to the living room after checking the CCTV monitor screen. She recounted that she spotted the defendant bending close to her daughter who was then standing behind a couch. "He picked up his papers and rushed to leave instantly as I walked in on them."
The mother added that when she went back to previous recordings, she spotted other instances on inappropriate behaviour.
The girl's parents lodged a complaint at the Al Qusais police station right away.
As many as 15 photos were part of the prosecution evidence against the tutor. The next hearing is set for May 2.
