A Russian man was killed after slipping in his bathroom and getting the handle of a toilet brush wedged in his skull through his eye socket.
Horrifying pictures show the 60-year-old lying in a hospital near the Russian capital Moscow with the blood-soaked brush still jammed in his head.
Surgeons had to 'open the man's skull' in an attempt to remove the handle which was embedded in his head through his right eye. But his condition deteriorated and he died days later.
The victim had slipped on the floor of his bathroom at his home in the town of Istra, reported Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK) newspaper. He fell on top of the toilet brush.
The man was given an MRI scan and X-ray plus strong antibiotics, according to reports.
'The toilet brush was cut off immediately above the eye of the patient but it was not possible to remove the handle straight away,' reported MK.
During the accident a bone had broken that threatened brain damage, said doctors.
'Surgeons decided to open the skull and remove first the broken bones and then the handle of the toilet brush,' reported the newspaper.
'The surgery was performed and at first appeared to be successful, everything was removed, but the patient remained in a coma.
'He was moved to his local hospital in Istra town for further treatment but unfortunately some days later he died, still in a coma.'
