The man will be deported after completing his three-month jail term.
A security guard has been sentenced to three months in jail after the Dubai Court of First Instance found him guilty of molesting a nine-year-old girl.
The 31-year-old man was accused of groping the Emirati girl as she was away from her parents at their residential complex. He denied the charge at court, claiming it was not intentional.
The court convicted him on Sunday and ordered his deportation after the completion of his jail term. The incident was reported on March 7 at the Jebel Ali police station.
"I got a call from my daughter at 5pm, telling me that the guard sexually harassed her while she was at the complex. I went straight away to see her," the girl's father said. "She told me that as she was walking out of a supermarket with her friend, the accused passed by and touched her inappropriately. When she asked him why he touched her, he claimed it was a mistake."
The girl then recounted to her father how she told an Arab woman there about the guard. "I heard from her that the woman yelled at the guard, who then fled the spot. I called the police," the father told the prosecutor.
A policeman said the incident was reported at 5.30pm at the Dubai Investment Park. "I went there and talked to the girl and her father. The following day, we checked the surveillance cameras footage with the victim. She pointed at the defendant."
The police nabbed the defendant shortly later. He admitted to the charge during investigation.
