The theft was recorded on Friday morning.

In a shocking incident, a baggage handler was filmed opening a suitcase and stealing a speaker while loading luggage onto a plane.

The theft was recorded on Friday morning by a Ryanair passenger flying from Ibiza to Madrid who later alerted an air steward.

The video, published by island paper Diario de Ibiza, shows the handler putting one hand in the suitcase and then pulling out the red speaker tucked inside. He then puts the speaker in his left trouser pocket and zips it up to hide his theft.

Police caught the handler who confessed the theft and returned the stolen item back to its owner. The baggage handler, who is thought to have been sacked, was apparently only three days old on his new job when he committed the theft.

The speaker belonged to a woman who had bought it for her son. Daily Mail quoted the woman as saying in Diario de Ibiza, "The police told me it was the third day the man had been working at the airport and returned the speaker to me immediately. I was very grateful because I had bought it for my son's birthday."

Last summer, a baggage handler at Ibiza airport was filmed throwing passengers' suitcases around and hurling a push-chair across the tarmac before driving off with one bag stuck under the wheels of his truck.
