According to BBC, a rather unflattering hashtag about Abdel Fattah al Sisi is circulating Twitter.

The hashtag “vote for the pimp” has been tweeted hundreds of thousands of times, reports BBC. The pimp hashtag has also been written on the streets of Cairo next to pictures of the former general.

One Egyptian blogger says Twitter is the only place Egyptian citizens can speak out.

The social network is “the only arena where they can express their opposition, because now it is extremely hard to do demonstrations in Egypt with all the police crackdowns,” he said.

Counter hashtags have also popped up, defending Sisi and his right to run for president.

Egypt’s presidential elections are set to be held on May 26 and 27. Sisi is favored to win.
